Adventure Cabana – Kingspan-Buildner Microhome Competition
Adventure Cabana is a 24 sq.m. house, designed as a self-sufficient and sustainable housing solution for a young professional couple. It is a flexible and economical accommodation that can be placed in any natural or urban environment, serving both temporary and permanent accommodation needs. The residence is based on eco-design principles, is fully off-grid and utilizes innovative technologies and materials in order to reduce the energy footprint and operate autonomously, without harming the environment.
The morphology of the house follows clean lines and is developed in two levels, with a characteristic pitched roof. The central element of the structure is the Trombe smart wall, which integrates all the electromechanical infrastructure and contributes to the energy efficiency of the space through passive solar heating and natural ventilation. Despite its small surface area, the Cabana is organised with functional excellence. On the ground floor there is the living room, kitchenette, bathroom and various hidden storage spaces, while upstairs there is the bedroom-loft. The spaces have been designed with an emphasis on ergonomics and versatility, creating an interior that offers comfort, practicality and visual spaciousness.
The aesthetics of the micro-house balance between minimalism and warmth. Wood, combined with natural materials and neutral tones, enhances the connection with the environment,
